FEBRUARY 2011 DANCE RESIDENCY - Your opportunity to create and perform with acclaimed company State of Emergency 
Déda and Derbyshire Dance Artists' Network are offering a unique training opportunity; artists from Derbyshire Dance Artists' Network are invited to a residency with leading dance company State of Emergency.  Work created during this residency will be presented as a curtain raiser to the company's performance of Desert Crossings on Friday 11 March at Déda. 
The three-day residency takes place from Tuesday 22 - Thursday 24 February 2011. 
Cost: £30 for 3 days (including lunch each day and National Stone Centre visit)

Older People Dancing training course

Staffordshire Dance Collective Pro Class 
Sdc pro class is back and welcomes new participants to their weekly professional classes! 
Every Monday 5.30-7 during term time. 
Classes are predominantly contemporary based and are led by members of sdc on a rota basis to bring a wide range of styles and influences.

Classes are held at Dance Studio, Stoke-on-Trent College, Burslem Campus.

Retina Youth Dance Company   
Retina is leading weekly sessions for 15 to 20 year olds on Saturday mornings at College Street Centre, Nottingham. 
Each week will begin with an open class from 10 to 11.30am for all 15 to 20 year olds that want to improve their dance technique. This class will be followed by rehearsals for the new 2010 Retina Youth Dance Company. Attendance and accomplishment in the weekly class can lead to a place in the youth company in the future, with chances to perform works choreographed by Retina Dance Company. 
Retina Dance Company is an international dance company with a base in both Nottingham UK and Antwerp Belgium. Artistically led by Filip Van Huffel, Retina has a regular programme of producing company works, teaching and performing and has initiated the open class and youth company to contribute to improving the technical, performance and creative standards of dancers in the East Midlands. 
Class costs £3.50 per week and is every Saturday in term time, starting on Saturday January 9th 2010.

Arts Council England's dance mapping report has now been published. 
The most significant compilation of evidenced-based dance research ever undertaken in this country, A window on dance maps the dance ecology, economy and environment in England. It looks at the various market segments and identifies trends and patterns, challenges and opportunities for dance. With the input of over 1,400 dance artists, companies and promoters working in England today, this research is for the field not only about it. It has sought to identify key facts and can now inform future direction and strategy.  A window on dance has been written by consultants Susanne Burns and Sue Harrison. SHIFT Training Package Dance4 are launching the new shape of SHIFT, a training programme for dance professionals, artists and anyone practically involved in delivering or working in dance. 
The programme will consist of a menu of workshops, from which participants will be able to create a personalised training package that best suits their context and needs. This menu will contain workshops on a wide range of topics, including working with young people, collaboration, health & well-being and site-specific work, led by nationally-renowned dance experts.
